To me, art is a form of self-expression. It's a way to escape my busy thoughts and enjoy the process of making something interesting. In my day-to-day life, I usually always have a plan. However, when creating my work, I don’t. I like to view each piece as an experiment and allow myself to be spontaneous. I typically play around with vibrant colors and mediums and layer until each piece feels complete.
My recent work highlights my love of layering and technical painting. I enjoy experimenting with the idea of concealing imagery in the background and meticulously painting an object in the foreground. I like to explore this concept through different materials such as magazines, newspaper, acrylic, and glue. There are so many elements of art I have yet to explore. I don't like to feel tied down to creating one type of art out of one type of medium with one type of subject. I think no matter what mediums I use or what subjects I choose in the future, my art will continue to have the same meaning to me regardless of what the end product is. |
